My quest for extraordinary cappuccino in Edmonton has evolved into a mapping project I am calling Mappuccino YEG. (Edmonton is also known as YEG if you’re flying or tweeting here.)
The spots are all independently (and, as far as I know, locally) owned. This was not intentional, but I’ve found myself gravitating away from the large chain coffee shops when looking for a high quality cappuccino product.
Please review and send me any feedback or suggestions on other spots in Edmonton whose cappuccino offering I should be aware of.

YEG Mappuccino… clever.
Okay, here’s one: Corso 32 – it’s an amazing new resto. Talk of the town, downtown. Small, 32 seats, brief and frequently changing menu. Completely redefines the concept of pure, simple and innovative cooking in our City. But more than that they make a great cappuccino! I’m guessing the owner, Daniel Costa, learned a thing or two about great coffee from Antonio at DaCapo (they were partners at one time). Either way, you can have a wonderful cap after a simply beautiful meal. Address: 10345 Jasper Ave.

Have you tried Wild Earth bakery and Cafe near Culina Mill Creek? It’s pretty good although the bakery products are quite pricey.
A couple of friends and I discussed recently that we would love to have something independent, cozy and interesting in the far West End. Its too bad the Bagel Bin space became yet another Asian fast food place.

Gord – Corso 32 is on my list of places to go for dinner. I’ll just have to bite the bullet and break my “no cappuccinos after 3 pm” rule and be prepared for s sleepless night. The things we do for our passions, eh

Brenda – I’ve added Wild Earth to my list too. As for the west end, you seem like a perfect cafe owner type – maybe YOU should open that space you’d like to have out here in the west end.

I think not, thanks. I have lots on my plate. Funnily enough a friend and I tossed the idea about trying something just as the big coffee craze started years ago. Our young families kept us busy and we didn’t get further than talking about it.
You appear to be very social from this blog and would be a wonderful cafe owner. Your wife is a business expert, and you know all about social media to promote your business. I guess it would take more than that and I can’t even think of a perfect location, so we are probably stuck with Starbucks out here.
