I’m not sure how it happened, but the most beautiful computer EVER MADE has shown up on my desk. It is sleek and sexy, it has a tiny wireless keyboard and mighty mouse. And the display is 27″ of pure eye candy. (Whoever says size doesn’t matter should sit in front of one of these babies.) It is truly a design masterpiece.
I am fully expecting to be swept off my feet.

I know how it happened and who were the enablers. So far, so good. I don’t expect to be disappointed. I look forward to sitting in front of it every day. I tell the kids that if I like it enough, I will take it down to my office they can keep the PC.

Some people are asking how I like it so far. Here’s the report: GREAT.

Actually, I would whole-heartedly recommend an iMac over a PC for many people and many uses without hesitation.
One of my concerns had to do with processor and memory shortfalls with respect to the PCs at the same price point. No issue there – iMac performs more efficiently with less horsepower. We are used to PCs being slow because Windows is a crappy OS with a penchant for memory misuse.
The total hard drive size is a bit smaller, but 500 Gb is enough for most people. If you need more capacity, buy the 1 Tb drive in the large iMac or buy a separate external 1 Tb or 1.5 Tb drive for $100-$150.
Usability of the iMac is superior. It is well designed and beautiful to look at. There are a few minor user interface differences to get used to, but after the PC bad habits are gone it’s a breeze.
You should own one of these before Apple gets fat and greedy like Microsoft and stops making such good stuff.
